Hot Springs Cove Travel Guide
Welcome to Hot Springs Cove, BC!
Hot Springs Cove is a natural, remote attraction located in Maquinna Provincial Park in northern Clayoquot Sound, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Only accessible by ocean or air, getting to the Springs is half the fun. A typical visit requires an hour long water taxi ride from one of several Tofino outfitters, followed by a 2-km (1.2-mi) hike along a wooden boardwalk trail to reach the hot spring. The beautiful natural surroundings give visitors the opportunity to experience the uncut, old-growth forest, marine sightseeing and undisturbed shoreline of the park. This is also a popular pit-stop for kayakers on their way to Vargas and Flores Islands.
The hot springs consist of a waterfall and a series of rock pools filled with clear, hot (47 °C or 117 °F) sulphur spring water, which are flushed with cool saltwater at high tide, creating a rejuvenating and soothing sensation. This natural attraction is open to the public throughout the year, although it is quieter in the autumn and winter months. Wilderness camping is permitted in the park excluding the peninsula area where the hot springs are located.
