    Victoria's Inner Harbour
    Many of Victoria's main attractions are located at the Inner Harbour, including many museums, the Empress Hotel and the Legislative Buildings. A walk along the boardwalk, where street performers and artists vie for visitors' attention, is a memorable experience.

    Protection Island
    This small residential neighbourhood is accessible only by boat or passenger ferry. Protection Island has several beaches and at low tide, it is possible to walk across to nearby Newcastle Island.

    First Avenue
    This main street in downtown Ladysmith is lined with recently restored historic buildings, dating back to the early 1900s. Visitors can pick up tour maps at the visitor's centre for information about the history of each building.

    Old City Quarter Nanaimo
    An original part of Nanaimo's economic core, the Old City Quarter is now home to a large percentage of retail shops and dining establishments preserved behind the original bulidings of the area, dating from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. Besides a variety of gift shops, cafes and restaurants, this district plays host to numerous events year-round.

    Alberni Harbour Quay
    Port Alberni's hub of excitement is the Alberni Harbour Quay. Shops, restaurants and galleries fill the Harbour Quay, making it a stroller's paradise. The starting point of the MV Lady Rose, a passenger and cargo boat that tours the area, as well as the Alberni Pacific Railway which runs rail tours of Port Alberni to the McLean Mills Heritage Site, are also at this waterfront location.

    Victoria Old Town
    At the heart of Victoria lies the district known as Old Town. Aptly named, this is one of the oldest areas in the city and still features many pieces of the past. This historic area is located immediately north of the Empress and includes Wharf Street, Government Street and Douglas Street running north-south, with Johnson Street, Yates Street and Fort Street crossing them.

    Chinatown Victoria

    James Bay
