Wastell Manor, Cabin 24 Fred Wastell made his living at Telegraph Cove for more than five decades, building this home in 1929, which juts attractively from the bluffs. He added on to the structure throughout the years as his family grew. Wastell's father, "Duke", had recieved the land from its bankrupt owner, and along with Japanese and Chinese workers built a salmon saltery and small sawmill, creating the first viable industry in the area. The family used boats as transportation, as it was not until 1956 that Fred was able to build a usable road to the outside world. Address: Cabin 24 Telegraph Cove BC Canada
