This well-maintained trail is popular among fishers, hikers and naturalists alike. The soft river banks are densely packed with wildlife, and there are numerous spots for picnicking and canoeing along the way. The swinging suspension bridge that crosses the river is a popular en route attraction. Visitors should be advised that the Cowichan River can be treacherous at points, and while the trail is maintained, no emergency services are available. The path sometimes cuts across private land, so the trail limits should be respected.
